Saving your Club $$$

Why do many retail venues use Gift Cards? Because they know it works!

Many Clubs are now implementing a volunteer payback system to encourage participation. Instead of giving volunteers Cash, you could give them a card to use at the Club Canteen. As most canteens have a 50% mark-up on products, the Club is only out of pocket 50% of the value. Example: Your Club could give volunteers $100 Cash back or a $100 Gift card and will only result in $50 lost income.  The average Club could be $2000 or more better off each year.  Volunteers may also choose not to use their cards and see it as a donation to the Club.

WHY USE CARDS ?

Cards can be used in many ways as seen below. They can also be printed using a different image each year turning them into collector items. They are easily obtained online these days and reasonable cheap.

Membership cards will boost your club's professional feel and look. Cards can be purchased in plastic (like credit cards) or cardboard depending on your budget. They can be personalised with Name and membership number or just individually coded.

Suggestion: Offer $5 or $10 credit in the Club Canteen on Sign-Up as a great incentive while promoting your Club.
Loyalty Cards can be used to show your loyal volunteers they are greatly valued. Many volunteers expect nothing and appreciate even a small gesture of a $5 or $10 card. Remember most canteens have a mark-up of 50%, you could restrict card spending on items with a higher mark-up such as cans of drink.

Young people will love to help out scoring, cleaning or umpiring when they know they are appreciated, and get a card.
Gift Cards are a fantastic way to get other non-members to come to your club for a look and hopefully to sign-up.   Hand one or two out at school promotions or as a prize at your promotional information stalls.

Gift cards could be handed out just to increase the fun in your club. Give them to:  Best supporter at the game, Best player or Lucky Member for the week.
